[Uesugi Kenshin]

Ii Naokato of the Tokugawa and Makoto Makato of the Imagawa were advancing to meet in battle in Totomi, a region that was between both of their factions. They would battle to claim control over it, and the people of Totomi were going to be involved in a battle they had no say over, their lives meaning nothing to the warring armies.

Task: You must negotiate, either peacefully or forcefully, to protect the lands of Totomi from both armies. Totomi must not take heavy damage or suffer major casualties. You may destroy enemy units, but the lead generals may not be killed or it would be seen as an act of war. Takehiro has the backing of the Totomi militia.

At the place where they were to do battle, the two forces would see Takehiro and his small army behind him, a fair amount of soldiers facing either of the opposing armies. The man himself bore his fiery glaive in one hand, holding it up into the air as a signal for the two forces to stop.

"Men of the Tokugawa and Imagawa!" he shouted, looking to either side of him. "You gather today to fight and claim this fief for your own, and yet you would constantly ignore the demands of the people?" Takehiro would move his demon chariot a little closer to either faction as he spoke, to get their attention. "While you bicker and moan about who gets the territory, the people suffer, and you do nothing to save them! Just a few days ago, the Kitabatake launched an attack on Totomi shores, and neither of your armies were to be found to assist the people!" He would stop at the center of the battlefield. "Withdraw your troops immediately. The people of this fief do not want you here, and neither of your forces deserve to lead them. A Daimyo must care for the people under his rule, and neither of your lords have shown compassion for the people of this land. And so, here I stand, with my own followers, and the Totomi militia, to defend this fief with my life! You will not bring your battles of hatred here, and if you choose to, I will be forced to stop you personally!"

A pillar of dark energy shot forth from Takehiro's body into the sky, as a warning to either faction. Should they choose to continue their battle, they would have to deal with quite the enemy.

Naokato and his men stirred nervously, unsure of how to proceed. They had their orders, but they knew moving forward would mean certain death. Makato, on the other hand, barked cockily. "Don't you know who we are? We're the Imagawa! Our superior numbers would overrun both you and the Tokugawa! Why should we be afraid of your little light show?" He seemed to be putting up a brave face, but sweat could be seen pouring down his face.

After his words, the darkness Takehiro shot into the air would appear right in front of Makato, taking the shape of yet another Takehiro. Glaive in its hands, the weapon would light on fire, and he would point out toward the Imagawa army, unfaltering. If they made a move, it could lead to some trouble, considering the doppelganger's blade would be right at their leader's throat.

"I humbly ask that you reconsider your choice of words, my good man," Takehiro spoke, his forces taking up a more defensive stance. Numbers aside, there was little he could do here, especially since Totomi wasn't the top Imagawa concern. If it was, they'd have sent Yoshimoto himself. "No blood needs to be spilled here today. Turn your men back now, and you will be guaranteed your lives and your safety. If you continue to march onto this land with the intent of taking it for yourself, I will show you no mercy." The demon horse neighed powerfully, and it would run in a circle once more, leaving a trail of dark mist behind it.

"Is a territory when none wish for your rule worth your lives?!"

Naokato had seen enough, and had ordered a full retreat to his entire company. The men all turned around, hurrying away from this scene. They weren't going to mess with demons, spirits, whatever. They valued their lives too much, and hoped that Ieyasu would understand.

Makato gulped as he saw the apparition appear in front of him. His voice seemed stuck in his throat, and hesitantly, he spoke. "But... Lord Imagawa will have our heads if we retreat..."

As the Tokugawa retreated, Takehiro smiled, and his forces all turned to face the Imagawa. The dark doppelganger never left its spot, keeping its glaive trained on the commanding officer's throat, to keep the others in check.

"Throw some dirt on yourselves, and tell your lord the borders to the fief were blocked by the demon of Totomi. But I cannot and will not allow you to march on these lands any more than you have already. Turn back now, officer of Imagawa. Live. Whether or not you do is your choice."

Makato looked fearfully at the doppleganger, his hands shaking violently. With one final gulp, he turned to his men. "Retreat! There is no victory to be found here!" The soldiers began to pull out, Makato with them. The Totomi faction was victorious here today, but it was now very possible that they would be made enemies of the entire Imagawa army.

As the Imagawa forces too retreated, the Amakusa forces cheered triumphantly. Without taking a single life, they convinced both forces to withdraw from the fief, and now it was theirs!

"Men of Totomi! This land now belongs to the people!"

All of the warriors gathered there that day continued cheering and singing songs of triumph as they journeyed back to their homes. Totomi was now a fief under the Amakusa, and this meant the people had their land back.

The Amakusa now had a base of operations in Totomi, and this meant that Takehiro was now officially established as a Daimyo. No longer a mercenary, he would be in charge of the well being of these people, and could either lead them to great prosperity or great ruin. Only his actions could determine their ultimate fate.

(OOC: Faction trial passed. Totomi is now officially under the command of the Amakusa faction. Note that it can be contested from an opposing faction at any time. In that case, a faction battle would take place. Thread locked.)
